The Day I Became a Dad – A Life-Changing Moment

There are moments in life that redefine who we are. Some come expected, while others take us by surprise, but none compare to the moment you hold your child for the first time. For me, that moment arrived on November 10, 2016, in Janani Hospital, Gajuwaka—the day I became a father.

Welcoming Dhruvisha – A Miracle in My Hands

The hospital room was filled with anticipation, nervous energy, and an overwhelming sense of excitement. My wife, Revathi, displayed incredible strength as she brought our little angel into the world through a normal delivery—no cesarean, no complications, just pure resilience and determination. And then, she arrived.

Before the nurse even had a chance to clean her, the doctor gently placed my daughter in my hands. I was the very first person to hold her.

That moment was beyond words. Her tiny fingers curled around mine, her soft cries filled the room, and in that instant, I knew my life had changed forever. A surge of emotions—love, responsibility, joy, and a little bit of fear—rushed through me. I looked at her, this little life that we had created, and I silently promised to always protect, guide, and love her with everything I had.

I was a father. And life would never be the same again.

A Wild Ride to Welcome Varnisha

Fast forward to May 10, 2019—another milestone in my fatherhood journey, but this time, with a bit of an adventurous twist.

At that time, I was working in Bangalore, while Revathi was in Visakhapatnam. The doctor had assured us that there was still time before the baby arrived, so I planned a seven-day motorbike ride from Bangalore to Vizag, a journey of exploration before embracing fatherhood once again. However, just three days into my trip, fate had other plans.

I received the call—Revathi was in labor.

Without a second thought, I abandoned my leisurely ride and hit the road with a single goal: to reach home as fast as possible. Riding through the night, covering nearly 1000 km in a single stretch, exhaustion didn’t matter—only reaching my wife and unborn child did. I arrived just in time.

Unlike with Dhruvisha’s birth, where I was filled with pure wonder, Varnisha’s arrival brought a mix of excitement and a deeper, matured sense of fatherhood. There were complications this time, and though fear crept in, my faith in my wife’s strength and the doctors’ expertise kept me steady.

When I finally held Varnisha in my arms, it felt like fatherhood had been reborn in me.

The sense of responsibility, love, and purpose I felt in 2016 had now evolved into something even greater—a deeper connection to my role as a father.

Fatherhood – A Journey of Growth and Love

Today, as I watch both my daughters grow, I see reflections of those life-changing moments in their laughter, their mischief, and their dreams. Dhruvisha, now growing into a strong, talented young girl, and Varnisha, full of boundless curiosity, are the stars of my universe.

Fatherhood is not just about the day they are born—it’s about the lifetime of memories, lessons, and unconditional love that follows.

Being a dad is about being their first hero, their protector, their storyteller, and their biggest cheerleader. It’s about cherishing every giggle, wiping every tear, and standing by them as they discover the world.

And as I continue on this journey, one thing remains clear—becoming a father wasn’t just a life-changing moment. It was the beginning of the most beautiful adventure of my life.
